Oliver has vanished. His glasses are beside the bed. A scrap of his pyjamas is caught in the open window.

Cotton, his small white toy rabbit, goes after him.

Beyond the garden lies a country at war. Mouse soldiers brace sharpened pencils against Orc raiders. Villages burn, families flee, and the wounded need carrying.

Cotton has never commanded soldiers. She cannot promise to keep them safe. But when they begin to follow her, finding her boy is no longer the only responsibility she carries.

To bring Oliver home, Cotton must lead an army—and live with what she asks of it.
